Ann Mory Wydeven received a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Masters of Fine Art from Rhode Island School of Design. Wydeven is a story teller, mosaic colorist, and naturalist who works primarily in terracotta clay and concrete. Her work embraces folk traditions of the craft object, functional and substantial. Surfaces of pencil, mosaic and found object materials add layers of textures, color and meanings to ordinary shapes. Her sculptural and figurative work suggest legendary or mythic characters that narrate personal stories or represent the creative process. The vessels are metaphorical artifacts of construction that define time, memory and experience.
