Designer/weaver, Barbara Chappell is the owner and creative force behind Fiberwood Studio, a weaving studio and specialty yarn store located in Milwaukee, WI. The Studio opened in 1999 as a weaving yarn shop, production studio and weaving school. With advanced degrees in Textile Design, and a career in product development, production weaving and education, the studio was an opportunity to combine all those experiences and skills in one venture. A professional weaver for over 30 years, her work has been marketed in galleries and art shows as well as in the Studio. A long time member and Past President of Wisconsin Designer Craft Council and former Adjunct Professor in Textiles at Mt. Mary College, she divides her time with between creating, marketing and teaching a new generation of handweavers. "Textiles have always excited and inspired me and I have been involved in making them for as long as I can remember. Weaving is my first love and in my fiber art, I am interested in creating functional and beautiful textiles that utilize textures and the use of different yarns in unusual ways. A new yarn arriving in the studio, a new technique or a happy mistake can lead to the most interesting of fabrics."
