Rebekah Nicholas

Rebekah Nicholas works in watercolor paints and porcelain clay. Rebekah thoughtfully designs the art and enjoys that there is a chaotic element to her process in each medium. How the paint moves and dries in watercolors, and how the kiln fires; each effects the final outcome of the work. Her work combines organic natural objects, like flowers, leaves, and stones with geometric shapes and patterns. Rebekah works to create a quiet happiness within the worlds of her paintings. Her ceramic work is functional art objects for everyday use. Rebekah's favorite shapes to throw on the wheel are large bowls and pitchers. Her glazing applies color with a mindset of watercolor paints. Colorful washes of glaze move over the drawn and carved motifs; the glazes pool and combine in unexpected ways with no two pieces being the same.
