Mary Hager

Guest artist at Jean’s Clay Studio

On an armature of wood and wire she sculpts the bodies of each of her creatures with a lightweight air drying clay. Pressing in different textures to create their skin and cutting in their features. The masks and beetles are assembled with wood veneer, air dry clay, beaded legs, hand painted eyes and digitally created wings. Each piece is hand painted with layers of brilliant acrylic paints and coated with a flexible UV and moisture protective acrylic gel or acrylic spray.
