Stacey Stewartson

Maebel Jewelry

Guest Artist at 12) James Steeno Gallery

Stacey M Stewartson is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her artwork involves an always-evolving exploration of color, texture and pattern using salvaged leather to create abstract, mosaic-like compositions. Salvaged leather refers to any source of material that is damaged or has been used at least once. This means that Stacey’s pieces can include everything from upholstery samples to bookbinding and purse making scraps to thrifted leather jackets. Stacey is inspired by the use of color in abstract art and pattern in traditional and contemporary quilt making. Her artwork focuses on composition creation and the arrangement of color using color theory, self-prescribed rules and intuition.

Stacey also works with salvaged leather as a jewelry artisan. She is the owner and designer of a handcrafted jewelry brand named Maebel. Along with leather, she utilizes brass, acrylic, resin and semi-precious stones in her work. Stacey believes that jewelry is an accessible, delightful way to express personal style, celebrate beautiful design and build self-confidence.
