Rebekah Krieger

Shanel Pottery

Guest Artist at 19) Cayla’s paint studio

Rebekah began her desire to create as a young child growing up on the north side of Milwaukee. After becoming a mother to four she learned how to throw pots in an evening class at the museum of Wisconsin art taught by John Pritchard. The museum discontinued ceramics classes after 5 short lessons, so she began making pots on a kick wheel in her basement to continue her deep desire to explore this medium. Rebekah is self-taught, but also considers herself “the worlds apprentice “ due to the gracious advice shared to her by other ceramic artists. She is especially grateful for the guidance and mentorship she has received from Steven Hill after attending the “ journey” workshop. She also served on the board of the Cedarburg artists guild as “new artist liaison”.

In a world of mindless consumption, fast-paced meals in disposable dishes while on the go, she seeks to elevate the experience to transform it into a daily ritual of eating, drinking, and reflecting. Slow down, think, remember, feel, and most importantly “use the fancy stuff”.
She is currently working on rococo inspired functional pieces, while exploring the juxtaposition of the “ornate” and “ damaged”.
